Everyone seemed to know Jimmy had the wildcard before he went to the jungle. It was on the internet long before the announcement. For me Steve Davis would have been claimed to be a fix so Jimmy was the next best option from a commercial point of view. Liang like any of the future top 16 players will get their chance assuming they continue to rise up the rankings. I don't feel the final wildcard should be on form alone as you might aswell give it to the two finalists from the qualifying event. Any consistent form in ranking events will mean you guarantee your place by being in the top 16. Wenbo will play next season. Same for Trump, Cope, Doherty etc. If they play well the Masters place comes as a result. Mid season the wildcard should go to the public's choice, or those representing the public. Im not sure playing well for half a season prior to the Masters should mean you get the wildcard. I think like golf and tennis, past form and commercial sense is as good as way as any!

I think you're right Matt, he is fortunate but this might be his last chance to play in the masters and the other players you've mentioned especially Liang will all have chances to play in this tournament in the future.

Jimmy's 3rd place in I'm a Celebrity will help boost tickets sales alongside his popularity already in the game
