As Bill Burrows said in his biograghy on Alex Higgins , "everybody has own little story about Higgins", and I am no exception. I was 12 years old and watching Higgins play in the 1980 Tolly classic in Ipswich, I was like a number of young kids trying to collect autograghs at every opportunity, crowding around the players at the mid session intervals. Higgins was one of the only participating players who was not giving autograghs at the event ...so I asked my Dad to see if he could get his signiture to complete my set of players on my programme. He went back stage into the players lounge and approached Alex as he and Bill Wurbinek were having a beer at the private bar, Bill said to Alex you better give him an autograph as he is bigger than you...to which Alex duly signed my programme. I have the programme to this day and also the memory of a man who reminded me on that day as a grumpy wizard who had lost the use of his wand...I still have a love for snooker to this day and will always regard Alex as one of the greatest players..... Lee , Singapore (formerly Ipswich)
