2014/15 – Main Tour Qualification

Hailing from Faisalabad, Pakistan, in 2015 Hamza Akbar claimed victory at the the Asian Championship as he defeated Pankaj Advani 7-6 in the final.

Having already become Pakistan’s youngest national champion at the age of 19, Hamza’s victory in Malaysia earned him a two-year professional tour card from the start of the 2015/16 season.

He is quoted at the New Straits Times Online:

“Unbelievable. Pankaj is one of the best players in Asia and I managed to beat him here. I, however, made things difficult. I led 4-2 and 5-3 but allowed Pankaj into the match.

“My ambition is to become a world champion. If my sponsor agrees, I will use the professional card for the UK tour this year.”
