Career Summary

Bulgaria’s Proletina Velichkova first became interested in snooker over ten years ago and decided that she wanted to become a referee.

At the time, there were no Bulgarian referees or tournaments, but since then, with the development of snooker across Europe and in particular Eastern Europe, she learned that the Bulgarian Snooker Referees Association were looking for new referees in 2011 and contacted them to express her interest.

Since then, she has gone on to referee at European Tour events in Bulgaria, including televised matches involving top players such as Judd Trump and in 2014, John Higgins in Sofia.

Away from snooker, Proletina has a degree in Scandinavian studies and hopes to work with Scandinavian languages (Norwegian and Swedish) in the future. She is also interested in art (mainly Modern and Contemporary art), books, drawing, some sports, as well as social and sports psychology.
