Following a week of invitational events in Blackpool, ranking event snooker returns next week with the second edition of the Indian Open, which this year will be held in Mumbai, having moved from New Delhi.

With the field having been narrowed down to 64 players in Barnsley earlier in the year, plus six wildcards including 2013 quarter-finalist Pankaj Advani, the race is on to win prize money which with three events to go could yet be crucial for the upcoming World Championship.

Draws Released For India/China Qualifiers

Following today’s revision to the seedings list, World Snooker have now published the draws for both the India Open and China Open tournaments, with the qualifiers set to be held between Thursday and Sunday this week at the Barnsley Metrodome.

Ding Downs Mehta For India Glory

Hot on the heels of his victory at the Shanghai Masters last month, China’s Ding Junhui has today become the first man since Ronnie O’Sullivan back in 2003, to win back to back ranking event titles, with a brilliant 5-0 victory against Aditya Mehta today.

Take nothing away from Mehta however, it has been an incredible week for the Indian player at his home tournament, as he defied the odds to reach his first ranking event final.

Indian Open 2013: Tournament Preview

Don’t panic, two players who will certainly not be withdrawing from the inaugural Indian Open are Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta, but today it has become clear that at least seven of the 64 qualifiers will not be making the trip to India for the venue stages of the event.
