Tuesday sees the start of the 2015 Champion of Champions event and following Mark Allen’s victory at the Bulgarian Open yesterday, we now know who the 16 players competing at the Ricoh Arena will be.

John Higgins is the winner of the 2015 International Championship after he today defeated David Gilbert 10-5 in the final in Daqing.
The success earns Higgins £125,000 and sees the Scot climb five places to seventh in the world rankings, while he also equals Steve Davis’ career total of 28 ranking event titles, eight behind the all-time record of 36 set by Stephen Hendry.
With the penultimate qualifying event – the International Championship – concluding this weekend in China, Matchroom Sport can announce that the final seeded player for the Champion of Champion will be Scotland’s John Higgins.
Three days down in Daqing and 64 (plus wildcards) have become just eight at the 2015 International Championship.

As well as being a remarkable achievement in its own right, Ali Carter’s victory at the recent Paul Hunter Classic, also secured him a place in the Champion of Champions event for the third successive year.

UPDATE: An interesting snippet out today from last year’s winner Ronnie O’Sullivan, who has indicated on Twitter that he will not be taking up his place in this year’s tournament:

Earlier today, the draw was released (thanks to @snookerthailand.net) for the upcoming SangSom 6 Red World Championship, as Stephen Maguire returns to Bangkok to defend the title that he on six months ago.
Congratulations to John Higgins who has defeated Martin Gould in a thrilling final 9-8 to win the 2015 Australian Goldfields Open, his 27th career ranking event title.
The Scot takes home the £37.500 top prize and moves up one place in the rankings to 12th, but it will be the prize that means the most to Higgins, who has now won two big ranking events so far this calendar year.
