First of all, many thanks for your amazing list of contacts in Russia and Europe! The following is a blurb I’m sending out to various snooker people who might be interested.
NEW SNOOKER SECTION FOR
http://www.ingles-gratis123.com
Featuring Reports from the Golden Age.
The main purpose of http://www.ingles-gratis123.com is to teach English to Spanish-speaking people, mainly in the USA, which accounts for 24% of our visitors (Mexico, Spain and Colombia are around 16% each). We’ve had visitors from 105 countries.
I started the “Pages in English” sections about 3 months ago to reach the rest of the world. The idea of the new Snooker Section is:
a) to attract visitors from snooker-playing countries and let them practice their English on something that interests them, and
b) to create a bit of interest and knowledge in those Latin countries where it’s not well known (i.e. everywhere except Spain).
As you know, the rest of the world is where our future lies.
We won’t be able to carry Snooker news but I’d welcome any ‘blurbs’ with an international – or personal flavor from you, especially with a photo.
I’ve added your site as a link on http://www.ingles-gratis123.com and I’d be very grateful if you’d give me a link or a wee mention on your site, but this is not obligatory. I’d be quite content if you’d mention the name of my site to anyone who might want to improve their English.
All best wishes,
John

Phil Yates might be a great bloke and a knowledgible commentator, but he has to have the worst and most annoying voice I have ever heard. He speaks like he has plum in his mouth. When I watch snooker and he is on ,I have to turn the sound down. How did he get the job with a voice like that?

I agree. Phil’s main problem is that he is blessed or cursed with an excellent memory. I get tired of the reminisences/general chitchat and miss the technical comments from a pro player. He is quite unsuited for the job. I have the same problem with Dougie Donnelly commenting on golf. His voice also drives me to switch the sound off.

Sorry I have to disagree with you, not just because I can do an excellent impression of him. My gripe with modern TV coverage is that all they do is hire ex pros who might have excelled at the game, but are realistically unqualified for the job and are usually dull (Hendry, Doherty). I’m holding on dearly to those that have gained the position through media and hold English degrees with an excellent knowledge of the game they love. Clive Everton is one, Peter Yates is another. But its a personal opinion, I don’t mind his voice.

Oh I could not agree more!
Now I’ll be picturing him in the box with a bowl of plums every time I’m stuck with his coverage.

Hello there,
My name is Patrick Hennessy and at the moment I am trying to recruit analysts who have a good degree of knowledge in certain sport categories.I run a professional gambling business where I place bets on sports and events around the world each week.In my Snooker devision I have two analysts and im looking at recruiting a third.
Just to give you a break down of what it entails;
On average I would email you every one to two weeks depending on the snooker calender season.I would give you a listing of four to five matches. With in all these games there will be a strong favourite to win.I would then get you to email me back with your opinion on who you think which favourite is most likely not to lose.
For each email you send me ill pay 100euros and in time will increase it to 200euros depending on calls given.
If your interested you can email me or phone me and ill can give you more information of what im propossing.
Phone number 00353 857214303 or email on pjskeheen@gmail.com
Many thanks
