CLS 2010: Fab Fu takes Group Four

Despite his struggles in some of the bigger tournaments recently, world number eight Marco Fu has been in inspired form in the Championship League and underlined this today by taking victory in Group Four…

With nine victories from their twelve matches played in this group both Marco Fu and Neil Robertson were the form players throughout and so it was no great surprise when the two made it through to face each other in the final. What was a bit of a shock however was the ease of Marco’s victory as he won 3-0 and restricted his opponent’s points total to just 25.

With six centuries in the group Marco has been in excellent form all week which goes to dispel the theory touted following the Masters that there is a flaw in his game at the moment. Whether it is the pressure of the major events or just a case of confidence I don’t know, but as demonstrated today the form is still within him!

It was not such a good day for Ali Carter however as the serial CLS group finalist crashed out of the 2010 competition having lost all of his matches in this group. Joining him was the much fancied Liang Wenbo who won just two matches and could do no better than sixth.
