Dott confirms absence from Grand Prix grid

As expected, Graeme Dott has had to withdraw from this week’s Grand Prix tournament as a result of the arm injury that he sustained in Shanghai last week…

Having reportedly being told that he would need between 6-8 weeks to recover it was always going to be unlikely that Graeme would be able to play this week this has now been confirmed by World Snooker.

Given Graeme’s already perilous ranking position (provisionally 50th if he does not receive his first round points from Shanghai), this is the last thing he needed, especially as he may also miss the inaugural Bahrain Championship next month as well.

Still, one person who will benefit from this is Bristol youngster Judd Trump who will now have Sunday evening off and move into the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time. Like the rest of us he will have to wait until next week’s draw to see who he will meet there…
