With a few tournaments between now and January it is hard to read too much into it as certain players might play themselves in or out of form by then. One thing that can be said though is that Joe Perry must be cursing whoever makes these draws as he seems to be getting O’Sullivan early in every single event at the moment! He played him in the last of both the Northern Ireland Trophy and the Shanghai Masters, is set to face him in the last 16 of the UK Championship and now meets him first off in the Masters. Half-expecting them to be paired in the Grand Prix as well!
Aside from this, the ties between Shaun Murphy/Ding Junhui and John Higgins/Marco Fu look very hard to call, both featuring two highly talented players who are capable of winning the event.
There are also a few rematches from this year’s World Championship between Peter Ebdon/Ali Carter and possibly Mark Allen/Mark King should King win his wildcard match.
Hopefully the tournament will be of a higher standard than last season…
