Following victory for Xiao Guodong in event six, he now looks certain to secure an immediate return to the main tour and currently sits at the top of the rankings. Similarly, both Bjorn Haneveer and Craig Steadman are also well-placed and with a good run in this week’s event, can make absolutely sure of their main tour status.
Beyond the top three though, the situation is far less certain and every win could be crucial with just 200pts between 4th placed Shokat Ali and 22nd placed Jack Lisowski. Unfortunately for the likes of the talented Lisowski though, this event at Pontin’s clashes with the European under-19’s Championship out in Russia and so players have had to choose one or the other.
