Having previously seen off Aiden Kench, Matthew Day, Peter Lines, Robbie Williams and Nick Jennings to reach the final, there Michael came up against former professional Paul Davison who himself was on a high following an excellent semi-final win over Judd Trump.

Despite seeing Paul take an early 2-0 lead with breaks of 95 and 56, Michael responded well to take the next four, on his way to an eventual 5-3 win. While this might not be the most high profile event that he will play in this season, it is always good to be winning competitions and it will no doubt give him added confidence going into what will be his second spell on the main tour next season.

As an aside, you can hear Michael’s thoughts on his game at the moment, how he got into snooker and much more here, as pointed out by Snooker Sceney Twitter.
