World Snooker Limited Extends IMG Deal

A small news line coming out today concerning the distribution of worldwide media rights for World Snooker events during the next few seasons…

As stated over at Sport Business here, IMG Sports Media has revealed that it has extended its deal with World Snooker Limited to distribute the worldwide media rights for their events has been extended until the end of the 2015/16 season:

“IMG Sports Media and World Snooker Ltd have managed to increase the audience, exposure and reach of the World Snooker tournaments over the past three years while simultaneously increasing license fee revenues,”

“IMG’s long term ambition is to continue to educate broadcasters worldwide so they understand the appeal of this growing sport. The development in Asia is phenomenal and we hope to further capitalise on this momentum in the coming months.”

With the viewing figures on television seemingly not a problem, let’s just hope that something can be done about the low crowds seen at ranking events, notably last week’s Grand Prix…
