Top Tian spoils Ryan’s Day

Congratulations to China’s Tian Pengfei who has continued his run of impressive form by defeating world number 12 Ryan Day today to capture the biggest title of his career to date, the 2010 BTV Cup…

Details are sketchy as the 110sport website has not yet been updated to reflect the news, but according to this thread over at TSF, Tian Pengfei has been able to follow up his impressive victory against Liang Wenbo yesterday with a rounding 9-3 victory against Welshman Day.

It completes an impressive run for Tian who recently defeated both Mark Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan during the China Open tournament and in my view was unfortunate to have been overlooked for one of the wildcard spots onto the main tour for this season. Hopefully he will be able to continue this form and qualify for the main tour as of right for 2011/12.

For Ryan Day it has been a positive week following a difficult run of late in which he has lost several round one matches including at both of the PTC events staged so far this season. Although he has not been able to win the title, hopefully it will give him the confidence boost that he has been so desperate for with the Shanghai Masters and more PTC events approaching…
