Shanghai Masters 2010: Carter Takes Narrow Lead Into Final Session

Ali Carter as expected leads Jamie Burnett heading into the second session of their Shanghai Masters final, but only just as he took the last two frames of the session to move into a 5-4 lead…

NOTE: Updates throughout the day over at my Twitter page.

From what I saw of the opening session of the final, this match could be one that goes all the way as Jamie, despite being in his first final, competed with Ali in every frame and leading 4-3, threatened to take a lead into the evening session. Ali however responded well to level matters at 4-4 before taking the last to ensure that he remains the favourite to win his second ranking event title later on today.

I did not see all of the session as Eurosport unfortunately cut away to some rallying with a few frames still to run, and with the evening session being shown only on their HD channel, updates will be hard to come by again.

Will Ali pull away and win easily as he did against Joe Swail in the 2009 Welsh Open final or will we see another surprise in Shanghai? Time will tell…
