Championship League 2011: Selby Through, O’Sullivan to follow?

So the first man through to the final group of this season’s Championship League is 2008 and 2009 runner-up Mark Selby who recovered from 2-1 down in Tuesday’s final to defeat Ali Carter. So far in group two meanwhile, it has been an excellent day for ‘the big three’…

Yes today has been a good one for both John Higgins and Mark Williams who continued their strong form from the first group with three wins each, while Ronnie O’Sullivan also recorded three wins during his first visit to Crondon Park this year.

It was a day to forget for Jamie Cope however as the man from Stoke managed to win just two frames all day, losing four matches and already finding himself out of this season’s competition.

Shaun Murphy, Ali Carter and Neil Robertson meanwhile all took one win each, though having played one more game than the others Shaun will have to start well tomorrow if he is to avoid joining Cope on the way out of the tournament.
