Pink Ribbon 2011 Underway

With just a few more weeks to go before the season resumes in Sheffield with the PTC events, this week sees the second staging of the Pink Ribbon tournament from the Southwest Snooker Academy in Gloucester…

Running for five days from this evening until Sunday’s final, the Pink Ribbon tournament sees a mix of both professionals and amateurs alike descend upon the excellent Southwest Snooker Academy in Gloucester in a bid to win the top prize of £2,400.

More than the money though, the tournament not only gives the players some match practice ahead of the upcoming PTC events that will open the new ranking season, but will also help to raise money through the tournament for Breast Cancer Charities as well as raise awareness of the disease.

From a playing point of view the star name is undoubtedly reigning world champion John Higgins, while the likes of Martin Gould, Stephen Maguire, Barry Hawkins, Jimmy White, Graeme Dott and Mark Allen will also help to ensure that the weekend will see lots of good snooker played at the Academy.

Hopefully I will be able to make it down there at some point on Friday to tweet and generally make a nuisance of myself, while a number of other bloggers and tweeters have actually entered the amateur rounds that began at 7pm this evening.
