European Junior Championship: Round Robin Round-Up


Day Two of the inaugural European Junior Open Championship at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, saw the continuation of the round robin stages…

There were more excellent performances from the young players, including a 125 clearance from Jamie Clarke of Wales, the best break of the day. Clark still has a 100% record after four matches and is yet to drop a frame.

Scotland’s Ross Muir also boasts a perfect score from his four matches.

Poland’s seventeen year old Adam Stefanow has impressed everybody, further evidence of the emergence and growth of talent across Europe.

Stefanow has notched four wins, losing just three frames, helped by six breaks over fifty and tops Group A.

Cardiff’s Callum Lloyd rattled in consecutive breaks of 52, 80 and 99 during a 3-0 win over Thomas Lancastle in Group E. Lloyd has four wins for the loss of two frames and sits comfortable at the top of Group E.

Southampton’s Shane Castle, just thirteen years old, heads up Group G. The On Q Promotions player has had four wins and lost only one frame. Castle has contributed breaks of 90, 71 and 58 to the break board.

Dylan Scully, from Carlow in Ireland has won two out three matches to date and sits second in Group C behind England’s Jonathan Haslam who has a clean sheet so far.

Matches in the Round Robin continue on Saturday. The Knock Out stages commence on Sunday morning.
