Since its début at the Crucible back in 2010, the Snooker Legends tour as organised by Jason Francis and Nick George has gone from strength to strength and accordingly they have now announced the first staging of the ‘Legends Cup’ which will take place in 2012. Click below for more details…
When and Where?
The 2012 Legends Cup will be staged shortly after next year’s World Championship on the weekend of the 12-13 May 2012, sessions beginning at 1pm on each day, as well as 7:30pm on the Saturday and 6:30pm on the Sunday.
There will also be a launch dinner on Friday 11th May 2012 at Weston Hall.
The event will be staged at The Civic Hall, High Street, Bedworth which boasts a main auditorium with a capacity of 763, more information on which you can find here at the venue’s website.
Format and Legends
The format will two teams come up against each other, each with four players representing England and Northern Ireland, and the rest of the world respectively. The first team will be captained by 1985 world champion Dennis Taylor and be completed by Ronnie O’Sullivan, Jimmy White and John Parrott, while Cliff Thorburn leads a rest of the world team including Stephen Hendry, Ken Doherty and Tony Drago.
The players will also be joined by referees Jan Verhaas and Michaela Tabb while John Virgo will be on hand as Master of Ceremonies
The Cup will be played over four sessions, including both doubles and singles matches, although the exact format has yet to be specified.
