Chris Turner: 6th February 1944 – 30th October 2011

Sad news broke earlier today as it was announced that snooker statistician and custodian of the Snooker Archive Chris Turner passed away on Sunday at the age of 67. I did not know Chris personally but he was a regular presence on the various blogs, forums and was even known to comment here on this humble website on occasion which was always more than welcome.

His player profiles at the old Global Snooker website were an invaluable resource to me personally when editing my profile pages and of course his record of leading century break makers was always useful and something that has yet to be replicated anywhere else.

On behalf of many I would like to express not only my condolences to all who knew him, but thanks for all of the hard work that he put in during the years which was doubtless appreciated by many.

No doubt he will be sadly missed. I used to go to his website very often because he had very interesting statistics there and other stuff about snooker which is always very useful.
    Rest In Peace Chris.

I have visited his excellent website countless times, it was an invaluable resource. To think that he continued to update it so often is amazing. He will be missed, having provided stats for many more people than he would probably ever realise.

I loved his website! It was the ultimate Snooker resource. I hope someone who has the same dedication as he did will continue the site. RIP Chris Turner.
