PTC11, PTC12 – Tournament Draws Released

Amidst the drama coming from York this week, World Snooker have also revealed the draws for the final two regular PTC events of the season which aside from the last 16 stage of PTC 12 will be staged at the Academy in Sheffield later this month…

PTC11

As with a number of other PTC tournaments this season, PTC11 will be held at the Academy in Sheffield although on this occasion, three tables will at least be situated in the Badminton Halls which will allow spectators in to watch the action.

Despite this improvement, there have however been a number of notable withdrawals, the professionals being as follows:

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan
  • Liu Chaung
  • Passakorn Suwannawat
  • Tian Pengfei
  • Bjorn Haneveer
  • Cau Yupeng
  • Robin Hull
  • Joe Meara
  • Igor Figueiredo

The notable omission if Ronnie O’Sullivan, though with his place in the finals weekend more than secure and the Christmas break fast-approaching, I am not too surprised to see him giving this one a miss.

Bjorn Haneveer’s omission is of course no shock following his decision to retire from the sport, while Robin Hull, Joe Meara and Igor Figueiredo have found the tour difficult to finance.

Most interesting to me is the non-entry if the Chinese trio, plus Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannawat. Given that these players are in all likelihood looking to the PTC list in order to remain on the main tour for next season, their respective decisions could be a costly one.

PTC12

  • Mark Selby
  • Neil Robertson
  • Judd Trump
  • Ronnie O’Sullivan
  • Liu Chuang
  • Passakorn Suwannawat
  • Yu Delu
  • Tian Pengfei
  • Bjorn Haneveer
  • Cao Yupeng
  • Robin Hull
  • David Hogan
  • Joe Meara
  • Igor Figueiredo

Even more players have opted out of PTC12 meanwhile as Mark Selby, Neil Robertson and Judd Trump of the top ranked players have elected to sit out the tournament. The absence of Mark Selby is no surprise as he revealed during the UK Championship that his intention is to remain fresh for the upcoming Masters, while Neil Robertson and Judd Trump have each won two PTC events already this season and given their positions both in the rankings and Order of Merit, can well afford to give this one a miss.

A full look at the rankings and cut-off preview will follow between now and the start of PTC11…
