Congratulations to Jamie Cope who has tonight made the third maximum break of his career against Kurt Maflin, becoming the latest player to have made a 147 break during this recent flurry that we are seeing in the professional game.
The 85th maximum break on record, this one lifts Cope into a select group of six players to have made three or more during their professional careers and earns him a £250 share of the maximum prize for this event following Ding Junhui’s effort yesterday.

A full round-up of the rankings situation following the first two days of PTC11 will follow later this evening…

My god, seven 147s within a month.

147′s are easy. Just made three in a row last night… in my dreams… Congrats to Jamie for this wonderful feat. Thinner and faster cloths and lighter balls notwithstanding, it’s still an awesome achievement. You still got to pot the darn spherical things and control the cueball. Quite an amazing 147 series this month though…

Well done to Jamie, really pleased for him.
IMHO, 147s coming “hard and fast” lately has everything to do with the players playing many more matches all year round. They are thus match sharp…all/most of them.
That said, a 147 remains exactly what it is: the pinnacle of our great sport!
Cheers,
Jurgen.
