Paul Hunter Classic Starts Tomorrow…

Following a few days off for snooker’s professional players after Ricky Walden’s victory at the Doncaster Dome on Sunday, the action resumes tomorrow from what will no doubt be a more popular venue, the Stadthalle in Furth, Germany.

The Paul Hunter Classic, aka European Tour Event Four, is the most established ‘ptc’ event of them all and for many, the most popular. Having evolved from what was already a very successful pro-am tournament, this year’s event will again be televised by Eurosport and see most of the world’s top players in action.

As far as calling a winner is concerned, as ever my attitude to shorter format events such as this is that the goal for most of the players will initially be just to make it down to the final day, before their attention turns to holding the trophy on Sunday evening.

If past form is anything to go by, Mark Selby has won the tournament during each of the past two years, while friend Shaun Murphy is also a former two-time winner of the event, back in the days when it was an invitational tournament.
