Less than a week from now, the 2014/15 professional snooker season will begin in Gloucester with the qualifying events for the 2014 Wuxi Classic and Australian Goldfields Open events…
As was the case last year, the qualifiers will be held at the South West Snooker Academy, or Capital Venue as it is known these days and you can purchase tickets at the SWSA shop here.
For both events, available tickets and their prices are as follows:
5 day pass – Adult £35.00
OAP/JNR – £17.50
1 Day pass – Adult £10.00
OAP/JNR £5.00
As regular readers of the site will know, I have been a regular visitor to the South West Snooker Academy over the years and particularly with almost all of the world’s leading players set to be in action at the Wuxi Classic qualifiers, I would strongly recommend anyone with an interest in snooker to make the trip.
I say that even more so this year, as it has recently been announced that these qualifiers will be the final World Snooker events to be held at the venue, which will see a change to the set up in the building following next month’s Pink Ribbon event.
Going forward, the snooker side will move upstairs, with the Academy continuing to house eight STAR tables and remaining committed to providing first class facilities, coaching and player development, while endeavouring to run as many private snooker competitions for professionals, amateurs and juniors.
That said, the current set-up, with the arena and four tables upstairs and downstairs is special (see here on my video with Paul Mount from a few years ago), and therefore again, I would encourage anyone with the opportunity to go along to make the trip next week for the season’s first qualifiers.
