Reanne Evans To Compete At 2015 World Championship

Last season at the Crucible it was announced that there would be a format change for the 2015 World Championship, with the field extended to 144 players to encompass former world champions and a selection of other invited players at the discretion of the WPBSA.

Today it has been announced that one of those players will be ten times ladies champion Reanne Evans, who like all of the other names in the draw ranked outside of the world’s top 16 will now have to win three qualifying matches at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in April, if she is to make it through to play at the Crucible Theatre for the first time.

Evans Downs Jones For British Open Title

REANNE Evans kicked off the 2013/14 women’s snooker season with victory in the British Open.

The nine-time world champion from Dudley, West Midlands, accounted for teenager Hannah Jones 4-1 in the final at Whitley Bay Snooker Centre, Tyne and Wear.

Derby ace Jones, 17, appearing in her first ranking final, took the first frame but was unable to deny 27-year-old Evans her 33rd World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association ranking title.

WLBSA Secures New Backing

WOMEN’S snooker has received another major boost with the signing of its biggest sponsorship deal for ten years.

Eden Resources – a Singapore-based company that organises seminars, events and training – will back two tournaments on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association circuit next season to the tune of £5,000.

And that takes the total funding for 2013/14 to £8,400.

Evans Claims Ninth World Title

REANNE Evans compiled two century breaks in winning the women’s world snooker championship final for a record ninth year in succession.

The 27-year-old accounted for world number one Maria Catalano 6-3 in the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association’s (WLBSA) showpiece event at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
