With the start of the 2012/13 professional season now upon us, I have today had a go at compiling the new projected seedings list, which will come into effect this August and determine the seedings for the International Championship. At this stage however, it is very much a working draft as there are one or two important issues yet to be confirmed by World Snooker, so for the time being do not treat it as anything more than an educated guess…

Following Peter Ebdon’s victory at the 2012 China Open, there is just one tournament remaining of the 2011/12 season – the World Championship. While all eyes will be on the Crucible Theatre as the sport’s latest world champion is crowned, there are also a number of important ranking issues to be decided, particularly at the qualifiers as we will learn who will remain on tour next season…

Subject to the result of tonight’s Newport final (which will see an extra 1,000 points added to the total of either Ding Junhui or Mark Selby), I have now been able to updated my projected seedings page with the new list, which will eventually be used to determine the seedings for the first few tournaments of the 2012/13 season. Following the conclusion of the German Masters yesterday, there is just one event remaining for the players to earn precious ranking points that in some cases could make the difference between having to win one, two, three or four matches to qualify for the Crucible – or none at all.
