Rankings Update

A very brief post to confirm that not only have I now updated my provisional seedings list for the next cut off after the UK’s, but I have also updated my one-year rankings page for the first time in a while which you can now view here. Note that I have included minimum points for the UK Championship too.

Snooker Rankings: Third Cut Off Points

During the last couple of days a few of you out there have been asking me about the number of points that will be coming off the rankings at the third cut-off point following next year’s Welsh Open tournament. Presumably it is just the points from the 2009 Welsh Open that will be coming off, with the China Open and World Championship points from that year to come off at the end of the season and on that basis I have now put together a draft table to demonstrate what will be coming off which you can find here.

Of those players there with a number of points to defend, Anthony Hamilton, David Gilbert and in particular Joe Swail look to have the most to do in order to maintain their current positions in the rankings. The likes of Mark Williams, Ken Doherty, Peter Ebdon and Stephen Hendry however have little to defend and will be looking to improve their positions…

World Snooker Seedings Update

Following the conclusion of the EPTC2 event tonight, the seedings for the UK Championship and the Masters are now complete and can be viewed by clicking here.

Nothing stands still for long under the new ranking system however and I have therefore put together a brand new table to show the provisional seedings for 2010/11’s second mid-season revision which will happen following the UK Championship in December.

To view a full explanation of how the ranking system works, please visit my main rankings page here.

Finally, as you will appreciate there are a lot of numbers involved so I’ve probably made a few errors in places. Please do let me know if you spot anything…

The Rankings: Making Things a Little Clearer (I hope)

At the risk of this blog being known as Pro Rankings Blog, just a short post to say that I have attempted to give a full explanation of the new ranking system on my main ranking page together with links to all of the relevant lists. If you think that there is anything that I have missed or could be made clearer then please do let me know…

EDIT: Just to confuse again, I have also updated my one-year ranking list. This list does not determine anything of course, it is largely just for information purposes.
