EBSA European Championships: Draw News

Hot on the heels of the English play-offs taking place right now, next week will see the European Championships contested by some familiar names…

To view the draws for the Ladies, Masters and most importantly the main male event, place click here.

The Ladies event seems to be wide open as Reanna Evans, champion for the last two years, is missing from the draw. 2006 and 2007 champion Wendy Jans from Belgium is in the draw however so will be looking to come through and complete a hat-trick.

In the Masters it is a similar story as defending champion Alan Trigg is absent from the draw. 2007 champion Darren Morgan is there however and will be looking to add another trophy to his collection.

Defending champion David Grace is back for the mens event however as the 70 players involved fight it out for not only the title, but a place on the main tour. Other familiar faces involved are Malta’s Tony Drago and Alex Borg, Alfie Burden, Roy Stolk, Kurt Maflin and Patrick Einsle. Also playing is Iceland’s Kristján Helgason who of course played at the Crucible back in 2000 where he lost out to Stephen Lee.

Others to watch are Bjorn Haneveer, Brendan O’Donoghue and Jimmy Robertson who have already secured their main tour places for next year while former world number 31 and Finnish national champion Robin Hull is back for more.

All in all, a very tough one to call…
