Ford Motors to Maiden Title

Tom Ford

Jack Lisowski may have had enough to see off Mark Selby but he was no match for another player from Leicester, Tom Ford tonight as the world number 41 took his first professional title…

Tom Ford 4-0 Jack Lisowski

85(85)-16, 60-5, 75(61)-28, 83(51)-8

Having struggled to deliver on his undoubted potential for a number of years now, Tom Ford has recently begun to deliver on the promise that had made him one to watch and tonight he recorded his big success to date as he defeated Jack Lisowski to win the third event of the Players Tour Championship.

In truth the final proved to be a one-sided affair, Tom maintaining the form that had taken him that far and Jack perhaps suffering from the after effects of such a dramatic match against Mark Selby earlier in the afternoon. That is not to take away from Tom’s performance however as the win is a significant one for him which will surely give him added belief when it comes to some of the bigger tournaments this season. Even more importantly, he also earns 2,000 ranking points which are enough to lift him up to 31st on the latest provisional ranking list.

Jack meanwhile will be gutted to have lost I am sure but even at his young age he appears to be a mature, level-headed individual who will take the obvious positives from this run and hopefully build for the future. His time will come of that I have no doubt.

Jack also moves up the rankings and gets himself back into contention to stay on the tour following a run of previous early-season defeats.
