Player Profiles Updated, Other Site News

Are you a player? Want something adding to your profile? Drop me an email…

While I have not been blogging so much recently as the professionals have enjoyed a break from the game as the amateurs have slugged it out for tour places, behind the scenes I have spent much of the last three weeks updating the player profiles amongst other things. Click below for more on that and a bit of other site news…

It has become something of a labour of love but I am now happy (and relieved), to say that I have now pretty much completed work on updating, and indeed in some cases almost completely re-writing each of the player profiles here at PSB that you can find by clicking this link.

As you can see, I have also created new profiles for those new to the tour for 2011/12, though due to the limited information on the internet concerning some of them, some are more detailed than others while I am also looking for profile photos of all except Adam Duffy.

The new profiles are:

If anyone can help me with photos, the missing dates of birth or has any further information then please drop me an email or leave a comment below. That applies both to those linked above or to any of the exisiting pages.

Indeed if you are a player and would like me to include anything that I have missed or correcting anything that I have got wrong then please do not hesitate to let me know.

As well as the content you may also noticed that I have tidied up the drop-down menu linking to the players pages, dividing them into sub-pages rather than having just one huge list of 150 players. Hopefully that makes it a bit easier to navigate now.

While I have a couple of weeks I also plan to update the calendar page during the coming week while as explained last week I have already had a go at the rankings, though until World Snooker confirm which points which be coming off at each cut-off point then I cannot be sure of how the list is going to look.

One section of the site that I am hoping to improve during the current off-season is the referees section. Not only is the plan to update the referee profiles but I would also like to add other features, perhaps a ‘how to become a referee’ page or maybe a regular ‘Ask the Ref’ section. Any suggestions?

I will also be updating the archive page while I too have tidied up the legends page somewhat, deleting links to the unfinished profiles that I have not had the time to get to. For now I will leave that as a world champions page.

Finally thanks to all for reading during what has been a fantastic season. Snooker is definitely on the way back up and hopefully we can play even a very small part in helping it up there. If anyone has any suggestions or features that they would like to see on the site then please let me know.

    Matt, nice work as usual.

Regarding Luca Brecel, some of his national (Belgian) titles are missing. The complete list is as follows:
    - men: 2010
    - under-21: 2008-2009-2011
    - under-16: 2007-2008-2009-2010

Furthermore, he beat then world’s No. 12 Joe Perry 3-0 at the 2009 Paul Hunter Classic in Fuerth (Germany), which Luca himself regards as one of his best wins ever.

Thanks for all your hard work this year, your site and twitter updates are an absolute godsend. I know it’s been said a lot already but the evolution of the snooker community on twitter has been one of the best things to happen to snooker fans who want to keep up with what’s going on in years. Here’s to an even better season in 2011/12! Thanks again.
