Jones, Highfield and White Join The Pink Army

Liam Highfield shakes hands with Paul Mount

As mentioned during my previous article, Paul Mount’s On Q Promotions have today announced the signing of three new players to their Pink Army, click below for more…

As pictured above, the first man to be confirmed today was Liam Highfield who you may recall from his successful 2009/10 PIOS campaign which saw him battle it out with Jack Lisowski for top spot in the rankings and eventually secure his promotion to the main tour.

Liam enjoyed a solid first season on the circuit, retaining his place on the tour early in the season courtesy of his performances during the PTC series which funnily enough included a semi-final run here in Gloucester which possibly put him on Paul’s radar.

Jamie Jones and Paul

I was introduced to Liam earlier by On Q’s Janie Watkins and he came across as a nice lad, another from Stoke following in the footsteps of Jamie Cope and Dave Harold. He may be able to do a blog here at PSB during next season so stay tuned for that.

Another who performed well during the PTCs last season was Welshman Jamie Jones who having been on and off the tour during his career up until this point, has now established himself inside the top 64. He has also decided to don a pink waistcoat and will be playing under the On Q banner next season.

Michael and Paul

Finally fellow Welsh youngster Michael White has also been signed up following the problems at his previous management group 110sport. As was the case with Terry Griffiths, Paul Mount has wasted little time in snapping up a talented youngster such as Michael and it will be interesting to see how he develops during the course of the next couple of seasons. From what I saw during the World Championship qualifiers this year when he dismissed Adam Wicheard and Matt Couch with the minimum of fuss, he certainly has the ability to at least establish himself on the tour.

Overall then, three very talented young players whose careers are all on the up and will only benefit from the set-up here at the Southwest Snooker Academy. Paul Mount has said that he would love to find the next big star and help them to the top and who knows, perhaps it could be one of this trio…
