Thai Snooker 2011: Saeng Som Saraburi Cup: Thepchaiya Does It Again

Thepchaiya Un-Nooh repeated his recent Phuket triumph as he picked up his second title of the season in Saraburi…

His run to the final saw a straightforward 4-0 win over Tai Pichit in which he compiled breaks of 54, 71 and 79, followed by a hard-fought 4-3 semi final victory over Phaitoon Phonbun.

In the other half of the draw, the ‘outsiders’ quarter final between Pramual Jantad and Surathep Poochalaem went to a decider, with Pramual taking it to set up a semi final with Issara Kachaiwong. Sadly for Pramual, his fairy-tale ended as the Chantaburi player produced breaks of 53, 72, 59, 49 and 63 in winning 4-0.

The final itself began in style as Issara took the opener with a 98, only for Thepchaiya to level with a 128. 1-1 quickly became 4-1 to the younger man however, and then Thepchaiya wrapped up the match in style with his second century of the final, a 106, to complete a 5-1 win, and underline the fact that when he is scoring fluently, there are very few players in Thailand who can live with him.
