Congratulations to Jack Lisowski who has today equalled the feat of Andy Hicks yesterday to make his first career maximum break at the 2012 UK Championship qualifiers. Coming during the third frame of his 6-2 win against Chen Zhe, the break is the 94th officially recorded 147 in snooker history and earns him a share of the £2,500 top prize, plus half of the £500 pre-TV high break prize.

It seems like 147s are big news this week as Hicks and Jack get a headline write up instantly but for me SD deserves a line or two as he makes a 136 and a 141 break at 55 this week. Great comeback to win on Thursday and a comfortable win on Friday to go on to York. With a possible match with Trump up for grabs against Carter I am off to York with more than optimism as Steve comes good again. Rising up the rankings again – for me this was the story of the week at the qualifiers this week! He has good draws next week and if in a week’s time SD has won another four matches he may start building up that confidence to give the UK a bit of a run! Last time he played Carter he won, last time he played Trump (i think he whitewashed him in a Championship league match) so who knows!! It would be a really enjoyable contrast! Game on!

To be honest I’ve been manic way from the blog this week so 147′s, seedings and the draw have been the extent of which I have been able to update it. Will be wrapping up the qualifiers today though and Steve will certainly get a mention.
