Davis Downs Robertson To Defend Six Reds World Championship

Congratulations to Mark Davis, who has today defeated Neil Robertson 8-4 to successfully defend the Six Red World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.

Early in the match it looked as though there might be a different outcome, as world number one Robertson started strongly to move into a 3-1 lead, however Davis hit back to take six consecutive frames, leaving him just one away from victory.

Though Robertson was to pull one back, Davis was not to be denied his second world title in Bangkok and his third in all, taking into account his Killarney success four years ago against Mark Williams.

Quite why Mark’s record is so outstanding in six red snooker is difficult to explain, of course Mark is an excellent player in all forms of the game, but it would appear to be more than coincidence that he in particular has been so successful at the event.

Earlier in the week, Mark defeated the likes of Mark Selby and John Higgins, as well as Thailand’s Dechawat Poomjaeng, while the ever-consistent Robertson saw off Shaun Murphy and Stuart Bingham in the latter stages.

Next week sees the staging of the General Cup International from Hong Kong, while ranking event snooker will then return the following week, with the final stages of the Shanghai Masters event as John Higgins looks to defend the title that he won 12 months ago.
