World Championship 2014: Qualifying Draw Released

With just one week to go until the start of the 2014 World Championship qualifiers, World Snooker have this evening released the draw for the tournament which you can read here in pdf format, or here at snookerorg with match times.

You can also see the format here.

More thoughts will follow next weekend, but the most immediate headline is that Steve Davis will play either Jak Jones or Craig Steadman in his must-win match to stay on tour, while Jimmy White will take on either Ian Burns or Fraser Patrick.

What are the stand out ties to you and who will this season’s shock qualifiers be?

  • ANON

No Hossein Vafaei Ayouri? How come he cannot get a visa to play in the World
Championships but Reza Ghoochannejhad can get one to play 3rd division football?

Possibility of Ebdon-v-White in the final round, Ebbo going for his 23rd(?) consecutive appearance, Jimmy looking to get back for the first time in 8 years…

    • Matt

      Would be his 23rd yeah.

      • E JONES

whats the deal with Ayouri hes hardly played on his 2 year tour card because of visa (whitch im skeptical about) and hes entered Q School this year

        • Matt

Dunno, not heard anything about him for a year or so to be honest. Will ask around at the qualifiers.

Hoping to see Jimmy back at the Crucible, and Kurt Maflin make his first appearance.

Reza Goochannejhad probably has dual Iranian/Dutch nationality meaning no visa…
