International Championship Qualifiers Start Monday

BarnsleyMetrodome1

Tomorrow sees the start of the International Championship qualifiers from Barnsley, which will be staged over four days and determine which 64 professionals will be heading over to Chengdu next month. With all of the big names present with the exception of Ali Carter, as ever it will be interesting to see who will fall at the first hurdle and who will be able to cause an upset among the lower ranked players.

As ever, the latest projected seedings will be updated here at PSB and I will be in Barnsley on Wednesday and Thursday to bring you updates from the non-televised tables.

International Championship 2014: Draw and Format Released

BarnsleyMetrodome

Next week sees the start of the qualifiers for this season’s International Championship and following the publication of the updated world rankings this morning, World Snooker have now published both the draw and format for the tournament, which are accessible from their website.

At first glance, the big hitters such as defending champion Ding Junhui, Mark Selby, Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan are all involved, while I notice that Jimmy White is seeded inside the top 64, meaning that someone above him (EDIT: Ali Carter, for obvious reason), has decided not to enter the tournament.

The qualifiers take place from next Monday at the new regular venue of the Barnsley Metrodome.
