World Rankings: The Confusion Continues!

Following the triumph of Ali Carter in today’s Shanghai Masters final, World Snooker have published an updated ranking list and as has been brought to my attention, it now appears to be the case that the working of the new system is perhaps not what had been envisaged previously by myself and the many other observers out there.

A Rankings Bonus

In addition to the updated provisional list yesterday, due to popular demand I have also knocked up a one-year rankings table, demonstrating exactly who have been the stars of 2010/11 even at this early stage. This list is to be taken with a pinch of salt really as the top 16 players have not even opened their Shanghai Masters accounts so far, but with Stephen Hendry and Ding Junhui down in 85th place with Mark Davis leading the way, it makes for interesting reading nonetheless!

More Rankings Fun

A final word on rankings (for today anyway), to inform readers that I have now overhauled my main rankings page, adding a guide to the new ranking system together with links to the new provisional rankings page for 2010/11 and also a Players Tour Championship page. Finally I have also put together this page to give you an idea of who has the most to protect this season heading towards October’s first rankings revision.
