Thai Snooker 2011: Noppadon Noppachorn Wins Title In Korat

…after coasting to a 5-0 victory in Saturday’s final against Tai Pichit to pick up the trophy and the 100,000 baht winner’s prize.

Friday’s semi finals saw Tai Pichit take on Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, and from 2-2, it was the veteran who took charge, adding breaks of 72 and 57 as he ended Thepchaiya’s bid to win three successive ranking tournaments. In the second semi, Noppadon Noppachorn and Habib Subah shared the first two frames before Noppadon pulled away to take the match 4-1. In the final, it was one-way traffic as Tai was unable to make any impression on Noppadon, who played very well to take the match with a whitewash.

There remains one event to play in the Thai season. Below is the ranking list as it stands at present, with points still to be added for Korat and for the final event next month. The bottom eight players will lose their place and be replaced in the top 64 by the eight highest ranked players on the qualifying circuit. Points carried forward comes from the previous season, and is the number of points accrued in that year, divided by four. There are no starter points for new qualifiers. There are currently only 63 players due to the sad death from cancer of 37 year-old Sontaya Boontreerat earlier in the season.
