Congratulations to China’s Ding Junhui, who has today defeated Marco Fu 10-9 in a thrilling final to win the 2013 International Championship and claim the top prize of £125,000, together with 8,000 ranking points.
Ding becomes the first player to win three consecutive ranking event titles in the same season, since Stephen Hendry back in 1990, while he also moves up to a career-high ranking of number three after the tournament.

Hot on the heels of back to back events in China during the last couple of weeks, next week sees the return of ranking event snooker to UK shores, as the qualifiers for the International Championship are played out over two days at the Barnsley Metrodome.

One of the success stories of snooker in 2012, next week sees the return of the International Championship, with the qualifiers set to be played at the Barnsley Metrodome for the first time.
Following the latest seedings revision at the end of last week’s Shanghai Masters, World Snooker have today published the draw for the event, which you can best view here at the ever-excellent snookerorg.
A cursory glance at the draw shows that there will unsurprisingly be a stellar line-up, with all of the top 64 having entered, with the exception of the suspended Stephen Lee.
The first round will take place between 1-2 October 2013, with the venue stages to be held in Chengdu, China, between 27th October and 3rd November 2013.
Trailing Neil Robertson 8-6 having lost the previous three frames, the outlook did not look to be too promising for new world number 1 Judd Trump, but he responded in the best possible style by taking the next four to secure a 10-8 victory and become the 2012 International Champion in Chengdu today.
