PTC Finals Race Enters Final Furlong

During the past couple of weeks, a number of players have been asking me how the race for places in next year’s PTC Grand Finals is currently shaping up, particularly as there was not a list out there including minimum points earned for the ET6 event, the first two rounds of which have already been held.

Now however, the list over at snookerorg has been updated to include these points and give the most up to date position possible.

While it is very hard to give estimates as to how much will be enough to get players into the finals, click below for a few general observations and the usual handy links anyway…

World Snooker Rankings 2012/13: Seedings Revision Three Round-Up

Little over a month since the season’s previous seedings revision, the UK Championship marks the third cut-off of the season, as Mark Selby replaces Judd Trump at the head of the rankings, while there have been various other changes up and down the list.

This seeding list will now be used for all of the remaining tournaments this season, with the exception of the 2013 World Championship.

As ever, I have also now produced the new projected seedings list, which will eventually determine the seedings for the Crucible. You may notice that the table is a slightly different format this time, as you can now highlight particular rows by hovering your cursor on the table, whilst you can now sort the players by different columns.

Unfortunately the sorting appears to have a mind of its own in places, but I will see what I can do about that!

A final point to note is that at this stage I have not yet added minimum points earned for the PTC Finals and will do so once the 32 players involved have been confirmed, following the Munich Open.

Closing In On The Cut: December 2012

It feels like yesterday since the previous seedings revision following the International Championship earlier this month, but already the next cut-off is moving ever closer, coming after December’s UK Championship.

In fact, for the majority of players on tour, this week’s UK Championship qualifiers will be their last chance to add points to their tally for a crucial cut-off, which will determine the seedings for all of the remaining tournaments this season except the World Championship…

International Championship 2012: Trump Trounces Ebdon To Become Tenth Number One

The first semi-final of the 2012 International Championship might have been a best of 17 frames encounter, but Judd Trump required just ten today to defeat Peter Ebdon 9-1 and progress to his fifth world ranking event final.

As a further bonus, Judd also confirmed that he will become snooker’s new world number one when the rankings are revised following this tournament…

Points to Defend Totals 2012/13

A week ago, World Snooker announced when ranking points earned during the 2010/11 season will be removed during the course of this season, a list that you can view here.

Following that news, I have this week translated that list into points, adding the remaining ‘points to defend’ pages to the rankings section here at PSB, showing who has the most to lose at each of the season’s remaining seedings revisions….

Closing In On The Cut: November 2012 (Updated)

Following my previous look at the rankings ahead of the upcoming second cut-off point, World Snooker have now issued a revised schedule of when points from the 2010/11 season will be deducted.

In particular, it has now been stated that points from the 2010 EPTC3 and EPTC4 events will now not be deducted before the cut-off, which has resulted in some important changes to how the projected seedings are shaping up.

Click below for how the situation now looks, with a further update to come after Antwerp…
