Last season a very popular feature here at PSB proved to be my in-depth, player by player updates on the race for main tour places for the 2014/15 season, as I attempted to untangle the various overlapping ranking lists and orders of merit.

Although we are still only in September, already taking a look at how this season’s battle is shaping up (particularly with only six European Tour events scheduled to take place this season instead of last year’s eight), there are a few interesting themes developing and therefore I have below taken my first look at just who will need to have a strong finish to the season if they are to remain on tour for 2015/16, with some surprise names currently in the drop zone…

Picture Perfect: World Games 2013

While it was an event which for the majority of snooker fans will likely have flown somewhat under the radar, the 2013 World Games event won by India’s Aditya Mehta in Cali, Colombia, was an event of some importance for snooker and the WPBSA’s continued efforts to strengthen snooker’s hand on the world stage.

One man behind this push in particular is WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson and when I caught up with him at the recent Bluebell Wood Open tournament in Doncaster, he was kind enough to provide me with a selection of his photos from the event for PSB.

2013/14 Tour Takes Shape

Though we may be four events into the new season, there are still a few loose ends that World Snooker have been seeking to tie up as far as the main tour places for the 2013/14 season are concerned and the latest is that Malta’s Alex Borg is back on tour, having received the IBSF nomination.
