Well what about that for an afternoon session? Just as the drama of the opening round was beginning to wear off, today brought us another Crucible classic as Ali Carter recovered from 12-9 down to defeat pre-tournament favourite Judd Trump in an absolute thriller. Carter Out Of Haikou World Open

Sad news today as it was announced that Ali Carter has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Haikou World Open on medical grounds, presumably related to the Crohn’s disease from which he suffers. Dave Hendon at Snooker Scene blog has outlined Ali’s situation succinctly in this article, so I would just like to wish Ali all the best and hope that he is back in action soon.
