Maiden Max For Day

Day1

Congratulations to world number 20 Ryan Day, who earlier today made his first professional 147 break at the AT2 event in Haining, China.

Coming during the final frame of his 4-1 win against Cao Yupeng, the maximum represents the 107th in snooker history and following an announcement from World Snooker after the break, earns him a £1,000 bonus, provided that the break is not equalled during the final day of the tournament tomorrow.

The break was refereed by local ref Zhou Bingfeng, while Ryan would subsequently go on to make it to the quarter-finals of the event, before losing out to rising star Oliver Lines.

The Big Neil Robertson Interview – Part One

Robertson1

During recent seasons, current world number one Neil Robertson has been one of the most consistent winners on the professional circuit, last year completing a career ‘triple crown’ with his victory at the UK Championship in York, as well as famously becoming the first player ever to compile more than 100 competitive century breaks during a single season.

With the return of professional snooker now just around the corner, I recently caught up with the Australian to talk about a wide range of subjects from his achievements on the table, the opportunities now available to younger players, ranking lists and playing conditions, to his off-table interests such as football, video games and HBO’s Game of Thrones saga.

2013 EBSA Play-Offs Draw Available

A line of news that snuck out during the week is that the draw for the inaugural EBSA Play-Offs, which will be held in Sheffield on 28th April 2013, has now been released by World Snooker and can be viewed here.

For those who may not be aware, the new event sees twelve players who have qualified via four events played alongside main tour European Tour events earlier this season, do battle with three main tour cards up for grabs.

Among those involved are Oliver Lines and Ben Harrison, as well as former professionals Jak Jones and Stuart Carrington in what will be a huge day for all twelve players, taking place of course during this season’s Crucible showdown.

The best of luck to all involved.
