10 Predictions For 2015

Crucible

Happy new year to all readers here at PSB! As is tradition (see my 2012, 2013 and 2014 predictions), it is time for a few wild and speculative snooker predictions for 2015, that will no doubt come back to haunt me in a year’s time.

Taking a quick look back to my predictions a year ago, I am going to claim a success of 6/10, Ding Junhui coming through to claim top spot for the first time a little later than I had anticipated.

Let’s see what we have for 2015, as I try to be a little more daring…

My 10 predictions for 2015:

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan to return to world number one prior to the 2015 World Championship.
  • Ronnie O’Sullivan to finish the 2014/15 season with over 800 century breaks.
  • Stephen Hendry to make a shock attempt to qualify for the 2015 World Championship.
  • A new contract to be announced keeping the World Championship at the Crucible beyond 2015.
  • Mark Selby to break the ‘Crucible Curse’ and successfully defend the World Championship at the first attempt.
  • Xiao Guodong to break into the world’s top 16 for the first time.
  • An Asian Q School event to be announced.
  • Judd Trump to win more ranking event titles than any other player.
  • A new or revived form of team event to be announced.
  • That the Players Championship Grand Finals will proceed in Thailand as scheduled.
